Silver Spring Networks, a provider of smart energy networking solutions, needed a way to capture and store massive volumes of fast-changing machine-to-machine data for its SilverLink Sensor Network. The challenge was to turn real-time smart grid data into useful insights while speeding application development and reducing the high cost and complexity of traditional utility IT infrastructure.

Using MongoDB, Silver Spring Networks built a scalable data platform for near real-time analytics across sensor, geospatial, and temporal data. MongoDB helped enable new applications and services for utilities and energy consumers, with the solution delivering up to 10x faster development and 1/10th the cost of traditional approaches.
