Learning Locker - Customer Case Study

HT2 Labs’ flagship product, Learning Locker, is an open-source Learning Record Store (LRS) used by organizations like Xerox, Raytheon and UK universities to ingest xAPI-formatted learning events, run real-time analytics and produce reports. As usage and immutable JSON event volumes grew, the team needed to scale storage and query performance, tighten security, simplify operations, and reduce the growing costs and opacity they were experiencing with their previous cloud provider, ObjectRocket.

Learning Locker migrated its datasets and application servers to MongoDB Atlas on AWS, leveraging MongoDB’s document model, aggregation framework and secondary indexes for real-time analytics and large-scale ingest. The move completed smoothly and delivered a fivefold increase in stored data at roughly the same cost, improved visibility and control over resources, and native Atlas security (including encryption) without additional uplift.
