Qihoo 360, China’s largest Internet security company, needed a database that could scale beyond the limits of MySQL as its user base grew past 100 million. With more than 500 million mobile users and over 100 application services, Qihoo turned to MongoDB to support its expanding PC and mobile security platforms and reduce complexity.

MongoDB provided Qihoo with a flexible document model, automatic scaling on commodity hardware, and high-availability features. Qihoo also built an internal management and automation platform around MongoDB for cluster management, backups, monitoring, and failover support. The result was a more scalable, efficient infrastructure that helped Qihoo support growth and improve cost savings, especially with expected performance gains in MongoDB 3.0.
