LAZIOCrea SpA indexes 4 million vaccination certificates with MongoDB

The customer, LazioCrea SpA, supports administrative functions for Italy's Lazio region. Faced with managing the region's COVID-19 vaccination program, its challenge was to rapidly build a platform to handle massive, unpredictable volumes of vaccination certificate requests and medical bookings, all while ensuring security and adapting to frequently changing health regulations. The existing system could not scale from thousands to the required hundreds of thousands of monthly accesses.

The vendor, MongoDB, implemented its MongoDB Enterprise Advanced platform, leveraging its Single View capability. This solution provided a secure, flexible, and highly scalable data model that consolidated information and managed the high-volume generation and retrieval of vaccination certificates. As a result, MongoDB enabled the quickest implementation of a COVID-19 vaccination platform in Europe for LazioCrea. The platform successfully indexed approximately four million vaccination certificates for a population of nearly six million, handling up to 400,000 monthly user accesses and significantly accelerating appointment management efficiency.
