A MongoDB Case Study
Kronos Research, a science and technology-driven trading firm, needed a better way to store and analyze the flexible configuration data for its high-frequency cryptocurrency trading bots. Using flat files was inefficient, and managing database infrastructure distracted its skilled team. The firm turned to MongoDB, specifically adopting MongoDB Atlas and its Atlas Charts visualization tool, to gain an edge in rapidly updating and selecting optimal trading model parameters.
The solution centered on MongoDB Atlas Charts, which allowed Kronos researchers to visualize relationships in configuration and simulation data in real-time without complex data movement. This enabled quick model adjustments. Using the fully managed MongoDB Atlas service provided performance, auto-scaling, and accessibility. As a result, Kronos achieved faster analysis, with MongoDB being ten times faster than MySQL in key operations, and now trades an average of $5 billion daily, peaking at $23 billion in a single day.
