CustomInk - Customer Case Study

CustomInk, founded in 2000, is an online custom-decorated products retailer best known for printed t‑shirts and embroidered caps. As their product and customer needs evolved, their legacy Oracle-based stack and a rigid 10‑year‑old product catalog made it slow, expensive, and difficult to develop and deploy new features or move to the cloud.

CustomInk adopted MongoDB to enable agile, document‑oriented development and flexible deployments across data center and cloud. They now use MongoDB for centralized logging, a schema‑free product catalog (with GridFS for images) and a web-based supply‑chain app that replaced spreadsheets; three-node replica sets and MMS monitoring support reliability and operations. The switch let a single developer rapidly rebuild the catalog, boosted order‑processing productivity, sped partner onboarding, reduced costs, and accelerated feature delivery and customer service.
