ArcelorMittal boosts steel quality with MongoDB Atlas, processing 2.5TB a year

ArcelorMittal, the world's second-largest steel producer, faced the challenge of unifying scattered quality data from its global factories to reduce defects and cut costs. The company required a scalable solution to centralize and process high volumes of production data, which led them to partner with vendor MongoDB and implement its managed database service, MongoDB Atlas.

The solution, built on MongoDB Atlas with Microsoft Azure, created the centralized E-GPQS quality control platform, processing 2.5TB of data annually. MongoDB's platform enabled AI-powered defect detection and global performance dashboards, significantly improving efficiency and quality control. As a result, ArcelorMittal now avoids potential customer disputes by ensuring products meet specifications and has gained critical insights across its production lines in 16 countries.

ArcelorMittal
