American Tire Distributors processes 50 million transactions in under 4 hours with MongoDB

American Tire Distributors (ATD), the largest replacement tire distributor in North America, faced the challenge of unlocking years of data trapped in legacy on-premise systems. Their legacy data stores kept information in silos, making access difficult and preventing real-time data integration across their hybrid cloud environment. To support its digital transformation and microservices-based architecture, ATD needed a modern, event-driven, and highly performant data platform from a vendor like MongoDB.

ATD built its own solution, ATOM, on MongoDB Atlas. This event-driven architecture streams approximately 11 million real-time transactions per day into MongoDB Atlas databases. The solution delivered massive performance gains, allowing ATD to process over 50 million transactions in under four hours and serve data to front-end applications at a rate of 21,000 transactions per second, providing the millisecond response times required to drive the business forward.
