Steam Whistle Raises the Bar With their Novel POS Solution

Steam Whistle, a brewery focused on “simplify,” needed a dependable, mobile point-of-sale to handle roughly 120,000 annual visitors and eliminate errors, long end-of-day reconciliations, and slow service. To address this, they adopted TouchBistro’s iPad-based POS — bundled with Moneris payment hardware — seeking speed, portability and an all-in-one solution that could streamline diverse retail and tour operations.

Using TouchBistro with Moneris card processing and peripherals, Steam Whistle deployed mobile, easy-to-train terminals that can be unplugged to “walk the line,” handle ticketing during outages, and automatically tender payments to reduce cashier errors. The result: about a 50% increase in counter sales for pre-packaged beer, on-site beer sales rising from 11,150 L in 2012 to nearly 23,000 L year-to-date (Sept 2013), faster service and simpler reconciliation — benefits directly enabled by Moneris-integrated payments.
