The customer, a fast-growing mobile app that had recently raised a Series B round, faced a challenge with its paid user acquisition efforts. Despite increasing its budget and seeing what appeared to be high-performing channels, overall growth was not accelerating. The CMO suspected fraud and enlisted Moloco's DoubleCheck, a feature of Moloco Ads, to investigate.

Moloco's analysis revealed that nearly all of the paid channels were committing organic poaching fraud. This meant the channels were stealing credit for installs that would have occurred organically, causing organic traffic to decrease whenever paid traffic increased. After Moloco identified the fraud, the customer turned off the fraudulent channels. The result was that the total install volume remained unchanged, proving the company had been paying for users it was already getting for free.
