HIPAA Compliant Devices Provide Patients with Medical Information

NYC Department of Health wanted to increase patient engagement and raise awareness on key health issues while supporting broader efforts around interoperable electronic health records and care coordination. To do this, the department worked with Moki and its Total Control platform to power iPad-based digital kiosks for patients at hundreds of primary care provider locations.

Moki enabled the department to provide secure, HIPAA-compliant access to personal health record information, lock down the devices for kiosk-only use, and update survey and educational content across all devices instantly. The kiosks also delivered health information on preventive care, chronic disease management, and local insurance options, while analytics on usage helped refine messaging; the program expanded to more than 200 PCP installations across New York.
