Amplifire, an e-learning platform, sought to automate its instructional content authoring process to reduce the workload for its course developers. They engaged the vendor MojoTech to conduct a concept validation study, exploring the use of OpenAI's ChatGPT API to generate high-quality educational content from large source documents.

MojoTech developed a proof-of-concept prototype that involved ingesting PDFs by chunking text to fit API limits and mastering precise ChatGPT prompts. The solution included a custom front end for simplified user interaction. The resulting prototype could generate summaries, outlines, and quiz questions in a fraction of the usual time, significantly reducing authors' workloads and receiving positive feedback from test users.
