Using a Mobile App As a Modern Marketing Tool To Educate Customers

A large West Coast health insurance provider faced a costly, time-consuming open enrollment process that relied on six to eight pieces of heavily customized, multi‑page printed collateral per employee. The paper-heavy approach was environmentally unfriendly, out of step with many of its technology-focused customers, and required IT resources and printing/shipping budgets the Marketing team didn’t have.

Marketing adopted Modo Labs’ Kurogo Publisher to build one main mobile app with branded micro‑apps for each customer, deploying 15 customized apps in three months. The apps (home, compare plans, find a provider, programs & services, helpful documents) enable real‑time updates, QR code distribution, and permanent presence on employees’ devices, replacing printed materials, enhancing the provider’s tech-forward brand, increasing enrollment conversions, and cutting costs — with scalability to add many more customers easily.
