Howard University School of Business (HUSB) faced declining student engagement with career services—students were missing employer events and opportunities because emails and posters weren’t getting seen. With most students on smartphones, HUSB set out to improve on-campus communications and ensure students learned about internships, info sessions and recruiting events in time to participate.

HUSB replaced its custom app with the Modo Campus platform (launched 2017), adding push notifications, student and employer personas, employer modules and a sponsor-based business model (early sponsors included AT&T and Exelon) that funds the app. The mobile platform made schedules and recruiting easy to access and allowed two‑click interest submissions, leading to a 75% increase in awareness of employer updates and stronger employer engagement; HUSB now plans alumni views and additional integrations.
