A Modo Labs Case Study
Kansas State University needed a true mobile app to meet the needs of a smartphone‑first campus. Their existing solution merely linked to websites, so a committee of administrators and students defined two core requirements: connect to student information systems (schedules/grades) and let non‑technical staff publish content. They selected Modo Labs and launched the K‑State Mobile app in 2016 to provide a more impactful, campus‑wide mobile experience.
Built on the Modo Campus platform, K‑State Mobile introduced special‑event modules—most notably Career Fairs (including a 360+ employer fair), Open House, and the Research Showcase—featuring employer lists, indoor maps, schedules, video and social feeds. The app drove higher student engagement than printed booklets, cut printing costs, empowered non‑technical staff to manage content, and earned strong satisfaction (80% of students rated it “useful” or “very useful”), while extending the university’s reach to industry and campus stakeholders.
