How GE Provided Employees a Unified, Location-Aware Workplace Experience

GE, a Boston‑headquartered multinational with about 300,000 employees, moved its headquarters to a new multi‑building campus as part of a broader digital transformation and cultural shift toward a more modern, community‑focused workplace. The company needed a fast, scalable way to onboard and engage hundreds of Boston‑based employees, contractors and visitors in the new space without building a complex mobile app from scratch.

GE selected Modo Labs’ Workplace platform to launch GE@Work, a location‑aware workplace app available via public and internal app stores that uses SSO for secure access. The app delivers floor plans, transit and local amenities, visitor registration, desk reservations, app integrations, support requests, events and feedback tools; a highly visible launch drove strong uptake (1,300 installs) and ongoing use, and the modular platform lets GE localize content and roll out updates to other offices quickly.
