Deploy Mobile Communications For Emergency Situations

Texas A&M faced the challenge of keeping a 60,000-strong campus community safe and informed during Hurricane Harvey, where timely, clear emergency communications were critical. The university needed a way to consolidate multiple information sources and deliver actionable updates to students and staff who might be displaced or unfamiliar with local weather risks.

Using Modo Campus™, Texas A&M centralized feeds from systems like Code Maroon and a web‑based emergency module to generate targeted push notifications and in‑app alerts, while restricting update access to designated emergency staff. The approach produced seven focused push campaigns during the storm, with an average of 17,540 opens per notification, enabled rapid situational updates and recovery assistance requests, and demonstrated a scalable model also used by institutions like UCF.
