A Modo Labs Case Study
California State University, Northridge (CSUN), a public university of more than 38,000 students, faced urgent demand to deliver core campus services on mobile devices—most importantly the ability for students to add, drop, and swap classes—just ten weeks before the start of a record freshman semester. With registration driven by an Oracle PeopleSoft backend and high student mobile adoption, CSUN needed a robust, integratable platform and a partner they could trust.
CSUN selected Modo Labs’ Kurogo Campus to build a mobile website (m.csun.edu) and native iOS/Android apps that integrate with PeopleSoft enrollment web services; the university performed full-scale performance testing and launched to all 38,000 students at once. The rollout was smooth: the mobile site saw nearly 300,000 page views on the first day of registration and the apps exceeded 15,000 downloads in the first weeks, with CSUN already planning further feature expansions.
