Washington State University Engages Students Virtually and In-Person Across 6 Campuses

Washington State University, a multi-campus institution with 24,400+ undergraduate students and 350+ student organizations, struggled to keep communication, event management, and student engagement consistent across six campuses. A mix of paper forms, email threads, phone trees, websites, and earlier software created confusion, siloed work, and frustration for staff and students. Modern Campus’ Involve platform was chosen to provide a more intuitive, customizable engagement and co-curricular solution.

With Modern Campus Involve, WSU quickly saw student buy-in: within one week of launch, a quarter of the student body had engaged with the portal. The university now uses the platform to register organizations, approve events, manage forms, enforce policies, and centralize co-curricular information across campuses, while also preparing to use gamification and engagement data to support retention efforts and prove student affairs’ impact.
