Tufts University Designed and Launched 72 Virtual Orientation Programs in 24 Days

Tufts University partnered with Modern Campus and its Involve student engagement platform to solve a major challenge in fall 2020: their traditional five-day, in-person orientation could no longer happen because of the pandemic. With no prior virtual program infrastructure, Tufts needed a way to welcome thousands of incoming students online, provide access to campus resources, and track participation and completion.

Modern Campus helped Tufts launch a fully branded virtual portal, JumboLife, and build 72 interconnected orientation sessions in just 24 days. The team added learning pathways, attendance tracking, embedded videos, quizzes, reflection forms, and on-demand recordings, creating a highly engaging experience that regularly drew over 1,400 attendees per session. Tufts said the platform delivered far more flexibility, data, and student learning insight than a printed booklet or email ever could, and they planned to continue using virtual orientation going forward.
