Case Study: Suno launches music generation 4 months faster with Modal

A Modal Case Study

Preview of the Suno Case Study

How Suno shaved 4 months off their launch timeline with Modal

Suno, a music generation app, needed to avoid the infrastructure management pain its founders had experienced at a previous startup. They did not want to build and maintain their own GPU clusters, divert engineering resources from their core product, or commit to long-term expensive GPU reservations. They turned to Modal to scale their inference and batch pre-processing workloads.

By using Modal, Suno was able to deploy their code to the cloud with simple Python scripts, avoiding complex config files. The Modal platform provided scalable web endpoints and the ability to chain functions together, with the Modal team offering close support. Most critically, Modal’s auto-scaling efficiently handled peak demand, dynamically provisioning thousands of GPUs during holidays. This solution allowed Suno to bring their state-of-the-art music model to market four months early without hiring a dedicated infrastructure team.
