A Mobotix Case Study
The Icelandic Road Traffic Directorate needed a robust surveillance system to monitor remote roads under harsh weather conditions, characterized by extreme cold, darkness, and power limitations. Their previous analogue solution was outdated, prompting them to search for a new vendor. After extensive testing, the Icelandic Road Traffic Directorate selected MOBOTIX for its DualDome cameras, which were the only solution that could meet their demanding requirements.
The MOBOTIX DualDome system provided high-resolution imagery with very low power consumption, allowing it to run on alternative energy sources like wind and solar power. A key result was the camera's ability to automatically reboot after a power failure, eliminating the need for technician visits and saving significant working hours. The solution was so successful that the initial installation of 30 cameras expanded to 256, completely replacing the old system. The implementation by MOBOTIX has allowed the public and road crews to view current road conditions online, greatly improving travel safety and resource allocation for maintenance.
