The City of Ghent's Parking Service sought to improve security and customer service across its network of underground garages. Their existing analog camera system was insufficient for recognizing license plates or identifying suspects, limiting its effectiveness in crime prevention and investigation. They turned to vendor Mobotix for a modern, high-resolution IP video solution to address these challenges.

Mobotix implemented a system of nearly 300 cameras, including dual-lens models for capturing license plates. The solution provided extremely high-quality images that were used to successfully reconstruct and solve crimes, providing evidence acceptable to police. The cameras also enabled remote assistance to customers and delivered significant cost savings and easier installation. The result was a greatly enhanced feeling of security for users and a powerful tool for the Ghent police force.
