The Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, a large retail complex near Cape Town, faced significant security and operational challenges with its outdated analog surveillance system. The system provided poor image quality, left critical areas uncovered, and incurred high maintenance and data storage costs. To modernize their security, they partnered with vendor MOBOTIX and its local integrator, JIST, to implement a new IP video solution.
MOBOTIX provided a decentralized network solution using their Q24, D12, M12, and M24 cameras, which feature high-resolution imaging and onboard processing. This dramatically reduced the required number of cameras and minimized network load and data storage needs. The results included comprehensive area coverage, vastly improved image quality for forensic use, and a significant reduction in maintenance costs and downtime. The MOBOTIX system is managed from a single software platform and is easily scalable for future expansion.
