A Mobotix Case Study
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC faced a significant security challenge for its high-value, irreplaceable music memorabilia. The museum's unique environment, featuring black ceilings and complex exhibit lighting, rendered traditional CCTV systems ineffective. They needed a high-resolution, easily modifiable surveillance system that could also ensure visitor safety on a limited budget. The integrator ADT recommended a solution from vendor Mobotix.
Mobotix implemented its high-resolution IP camera system, including D12 dual-lens and Q22 hemispheric models. The solution used the MxPEG codec for superior image quality and low bandwidth, recording to a cost-effective 40TB NAS system without requiring expensive DVRs or NVRs. The results were exceptional, providing 15 times more resolution than standard systems, covering the entire exhibition with 50 cameras, and storing footage for 45 days. The Mobotix system offered remote VPN access and proved to be a cost-effective, high-performance security solution for the landmark museum.
