A Mobotix Case Study
Interislander Ferry, which operates a vital passenger and vehicle ferry service across New Zealand's Cook Strait, faced significant challenges with its aging analog surveillance system. The system had poor image quality, was slow, and was ineffective at securing its two sea-level terminals, which are subject to harsh, corrosive environmental conditions. To address this, they partnered with vendor Mobotix and their integration partner to implement a new IP-based security solution.
The solution deployed over 30 durable Mobotix cameras, including Q24M and D12D models, which were protected with custom stainless steel brackets and their own self-cleaning coatings to withstand the salt-laden air and extreme weather. The system was managed using Mobotix's MxControlCenter software for live monitoring and archiving. As a result, Mobotix provided a highly efficient and powerful surveillance system that significantly enhanced security, reduced lost item claims, and ensured the safety of over one million annual passengers and their belongings.
