A Mobotix Case Study
The Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) faced challenges with its failing analog surveillance system, which provided blurry images and limited capabilities. Seeking to enhance security for its 45,000 students and staff, the district wanted to standardize on a modern, cost-effective IP-based solution that was easy for its in-house team to manage. After evaluating options at a security expo, CCSD selected vendor Mobotix and its decentralized, megapixel camera technology for a trial.
Mobotix implemented its decentralized cameras, including Q24 Hemispheric and M12 models, which drastically reduced network bandwidth use and eliminated the need for expensive central recording hardware and software licenses. The results were significant, with the high-resolution images enabling clear identification of individuals. Most notably, the solution led to an immediate reduction in vandalism, saving enough money in damages within nine months to completely cover the cost of the Mobotix technology itself. The district was highly satisfied and plans to expand the system across its facilities.
