The A6 Motorway, managed by the Landesbetrieb Mobilität (LBM) in Rhineland-Palatinate, needed a way to monitor key sections to optimize winter road services. Their challenge was to implement a high-resolution camera system on a limited budget with an existing 2-Mbit/s network infrastructure. They partnered with the vendor Mobotix to deploy its digital camera technology for this purpose.

Mobotix provided a solution using its robust, high-resolution IP cameras and MxControlCenter software. The system was installed at eight locations along the A6, utilizing an existing telecommunications cable and inexpensive modems to create the required network. This implementation by Mobotix delivered brilliant, reliable image quality for the control center, enabling better-informed decisions for winter services at a minimal outlay.
