BG Klinik Ludwigshafen, a trauma and burns surgery clinic, needed a way to quickly detect individuals with elevated body temperatures at its visitor entrances to protect patients and staff. The challenge was to identify potential health risks while accounting for environmental factors that could cause false readings. They worked with vendor MOBOTIX and its partner to implement a solution using MOBOTIX M16 TR thermal cameras.

The solution developed by MOBOTIX and TecTradeSolution used thermal radiometry to detect anomalies in body temperature rather than measuring for a specific fever, which eliminated false positives caused by wind and weather. This allowed for the reliable identification of individuals who needed further medical testing. The proven technology also has future potential, with plans to use AI for predicting illness trends to aid in staffing planning.
