The USGS faced a significant challenge with a fragmented digital presence, operating over 300 independent microsites that led to siloed content, inconsistent management, and inefficient publishing workflows. To achieve enterprise-wide governance and modernization, the USGS partnered with Mobomo for a comprehensive web re-engineering project.

Mobomo solved this by developing a centralized Drupal platform hosted on AWS, which consolidated all microsites. The solution implemented a Create Once, Publish Everywhere (COPE) content strategy and reusable Drupal modules to ensure consistency and eliminate duplication. As a result, Mobomo provided the USGS with a scalable, unified foundation that drastically improved operational efficiency, reduced maintenance overhead, and enabled governed content delivery across all its scientific programs.
