Case Study: The Fairness Project achieves Medicaid expansion in Oklahoma and Missouri with Mobilize

A Mobilize Case Study

Preview of the The Fairness Project Case Study

How The Fairness Project expanded Medicare in Oklahoma and Missouri

The Fairness Project, which incubates and funds ballot-initiative campaigns to expand economic fairness, faced the challenge of winning Medicaid expansion in deep-red states where partisan gridlock blocked legislative solutions. To reach voters and mobilize volunteers at scale, The Fairness Project used Mobilize’s volunteer and event tools to build grassroots infrastructure and statewide coalitions ahead of the votes.

Mobilize enabled cross-promotion, bring-a-friend asks, event hosting and other engagement features to power 265 events and 4,850 supporter actions; cross-promotion drove 9% more signups, while bring-a-friend asks produced 21% of attendees in Oklahoma and 16% in Missouri. With Mobilize’s tools, The Fairness Project won Medicaid expansion in Oklahoma and Missouri—delivering life-saving care for over 430,000 people—and created a durable volunteer network to sustain implementation.
