Case Study: Sister District scales virtual volunteer engagement to promote Democratic leadership in state legislatures with Mobilize

A Mobilize Case Study

Preview of the Sister District Case Study

How Sister District used Mobilize to promote democratic leadership in state legislatures across the country

Sister District is a women-led nonprofit founded in 2016 that works to elect Democratic leaders to state legislatures, building a volunteer base of about 50,000 and raising over $3.6 million for progressive candidates. Faced with the sudden need to shift from primarily in-person organizing to virtual engagement during the pandemic, Sister District turned to Mobilize, using Mobilize’s services and integrated virtual communication features to support and coordinate its nationwide volunteer network.

Mobilize implemented tools like Cross-Promotion, Mobilize America Van Integration, and Distributed Organizing to streamline event creation, reduce manual work, and manage a central hub with satellite teams through customizable volunteer permission tiers. By using Mobilize, Sister District sustained and scaled its volunteer engagement and recruitment efforts, maintained virtual events and fundraising activities, and strengthened retention across its 50,000-strong network while continuing to support fundraising and coordinated campaign work.
