How Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered 4,000+ boxes of food to people in need using Mobilize

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s team used Mobilize at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when her district was facing severe strain from limited health resources, housing and rent issues, and the disruption of in-person organizing. With traditional outreach and community support suddenly blocked, the team needed a fast way to move their volunteer and mutual-aid efforts online.

Using Mobilize’s event feed, Messaging, network, and VAN integration, the team organized 78 multi-shifted events in four months, including phone banks, mutual aid workshops, and volunteer-driven relief efforts. Mobilize helped them recruit nearly 19,500 volunteers from all 50 states, generate 34,200+ shifts, send 63 emails, and achieve 20% more shifts through recommendations; the campaign also helped deliver 4,000 bags of food and 39,000 free face masks to people in need.
