A MobileIron Case Study
Philip Morris International (PMI), a leading global tobacco company with about 87,000 employees and brands sold in more than 180 markets, faced a rapid, worldwide rollout of mobile devices—especially iPads—and needed consistent governance, security and inventory across dozens of countries. IT required a way to secure corporate and employee‑owned devices, wipe corporate data from compromised devices, count devices quickly, and keep security transparent and simple for end users.
PMI selected MobileIron with Swiss integrator Nomasis and went live in under four months, deploying an enterprise mobility management platform to manage iOS and Android devices. The solution now centrally manages roughly 20,000 devices in 60 countries (with plans to reach 25,000), enables distinct corporate and BYOD profiles, resets passcodes without full wipes (saving one to two hours per incident), and supports secure app distribution via Apps@Work—improving security, productivity and global control.
