Vanderbilt University Medical Center deploys BYOD for 22,000 users in 18 months with Mobile Mentor

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) needed to balance data security with employee privacy as it deployed more applications to 33,000 clinicians and staff using personal devices. To address this challenge, the medical center engaged vendor Mobile Mentor to help develop a BYOD policy and implement a technical solution using Microsoft Intune with App Protection Policies.

Mobile Mentor executed the solution in three phases over 18 months, covering policy creation, technical configuration, and a managed deployment to 22,000 people. This approach secured Office 365 data on personal devices without infringing on employee privacy. During the rollout, the Mobile Mentor support team handled thousands of calls and tickets, ensuring a smooth transition and successfully enabling VUMC to protect sensitive information while respecting its clinicians.
