Canterbury District Health Board transforms MedChart into a mobile app with Mobile Mentor for bedside nursing

The Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB), a digitally advanced healthcare provider in New Zealand, needed to modernize its MedChart medication prescription system. The existing desktop application was incompatible with mobile devices, preventing nurses from using it at the patient bedside. CDHB engaged the vendor, Mobile Mentor, to overcome this challenge and transform the legacy application into a modern mobile app using the PowWow transformation engine.

Mobile Mentor successfully transformed the Windows-based MedChart application into a native iOS app for iPad Mini. The solution replicated the familiar desktop interface for ease of use, included essential features like co-signing for medications, and integrated robust security policies via an MDM platform. As a result, Mobile Mentor enabled nurses to work directly with patients instead of being tied to a nursing station PC, significantly increasing their time spent on patient care.
