Case Study: Eisenhower Health achieves improved disaster preparedness and enterprise-wide emergency communication with Mobile Heartbeat

A Mobile Heartbeat Case Study

Preview of the Eisenhower Health Case Study

Leveraging Clinical Communication to Improve Disaster Preparedness

Eisenhower Health, a 463‑bed health system in Rancho Mirage, CA, faced an active‑shooter incident on its campus that exposed gaps in its one‑way mass notification system (which relied on home phone calls and email). Clinicians in the Emergency Department, however, received timely mobile broadcasts via MH-CURE® from Mobile Heartbeat, alerting staff to police activity and helping prevent harm during the event.

Mobile Heartbeat’s Clinical Optimization team pulled and analyzed MH-CURE communication logs (volume of texts, calls and broadcasts, timestamps, and recurring phrases) and provided tailored recommendations, including adapting HICS methodology for enterprise‑wide alerts. As a result, Eisenhower expanded MH-CURE use across its clinical staff and network, increased leaders’ confidence in incident command, and strengthened emergency preparedness—outcomes demonstrated in the communication data and leadership feedback.
