Hobbycraft Crafts Progressive Web App Experience for 30% Lift in Revenue

Hobbycraft, the U.K.’s leading specialist retailer of art and craft products with 90 stores and a 3 million-strong club, faced a shift to mobile commerce and a slow, cumbersome mobile checkout for a catalog of over 25,000 SKUs. The team’s goals were to capture traffic moving to smartphones, deliver an app‑like experience without forcing a download, and lift key metrics like revenue and transactions per user.

Hobbycraft built a Progressive Web App front end on the Mobify Platform (implemented with partner ITG), keeping its existing backend while adding speed, offline capability, add‑to‑homescreen and instant page transitions. In a two‑week A/B test of 435,367 customers (7,522 orders) the PWA drove a 30% increase in revenue per user and a 26% increase in transactions per user, plus faster, more engaging and repeatable mobile shopping.
