Riverside Regional Medical Center, a 570-bed hospital in Newport News, Virginia, needed help improving transcription turnaround times and managing a growing documentation workload. The facility evaluated several options and selected M*Modal Fluency for Transcription, later adding embedded automated speech recognition (ASR) to support its medical transcription team.

With M*Modal’s solution in place, Riverside brought transcription in-house, shifted to a pay-by-production model, and enabled editors to correct ASR output so the system could learn and improve over time. The results were significant: transcription expense dropped 37%, transcription volume rose 37.2% with five fewer FTEs, over 71% of reports were speech-recognized, and overall turnaround time fell by 89%.
