PinnacleHealth System, a large Central Pennsylvania hospital network with more than 1,000 physicians, struggled with EHR adoption because many providers found point-and-click documentation slow and cumbersome. To overcome frustration with manual entry and the lack of a usable speech option, PinnacleHealth turned to M*Modal and its Fluency Direct speech-enabling solution.
M*Modal Fluency Direct was implemented to integrate with PinnacleHealth’s EHR and other clinical systems, allowing physicians to dictate, navigate, and sign reports using voice or keyboard in a hybrid workflow. The result was faster documentation, stronger physician adoption, and superior recognition compared with the legacy ED speech tool; PinnacleHealth reported that some documentation could be completed up to five times faster than manual entry, with physicians quickly training and adapting to the system.
