Improved Efficiency for Montgomery County’s Call ‘N’ Ride Program

Montgomery County, home to one million Maryland residents, needed a better way to manage its Call ‘N’ Ride subsidized transportation program for seniors and people with disabilities. The county wanted to reduce costs, expand service, and improve oversight, since its $5 paper vouchers made it difficult to verify trip length or whether trips actually occurred and also created fraud risks. MJM Innovations provided its EzTransport service to address these issues.

MJM Innovations implemented a full-service, outsourced EzTransport program with swipe cards, real-time trip data, operations management, financial and data management, contract monitoring, customer service, and IT support. By integrating with local taxi companies’ existing systems, the solution captured GPS pickup and drop-off locations, trip counts, and actual trip costs. Since April 2013, MJM Innovations has helped Montgomery County substantially reduce program costs and fraud risk, while enabling the county to expand to an average of 350 daily trips and serve additional participants.
