SPAR Kwa-Zulu Natal, a retail distribution centre servicing 180 outlets with a fleet of 102 trucks, needed to proactively manage driver violations—especially over‑speeding—while improving fuel efficiency, driver safety and customer service. To standardise group-wide tracking and reporting they selected MiX Telematics’ fleet management solution, deploying FM Communicator on‑board units and the FM‑Web portal.

MiX Telematics, implemented via local partner Soltrack, fitted all 102 trucks in two to three weeks and delivered real‑time tracking, driver‑behaviour monitoring and system alerts. Data fed into DriveSmart for weekly/monthly driver scores enabled targeted training and incentives; SPAR KZN reported dramatic reductions in over‑speeding, safer driving, lower fuel consumption and its KZN and Western Cape divisions leading the nation in meeting fuel targets.
