PepsiCo in Egypt partnered with MiX Telematics to tackle major road‑safety challenges across its 3,000‑strong sales and distribution fleet. Operating in a high road‑risk environment, PepsiCo needed to monitor driver behaviour, measure levels of awareness and improve safety; MiX Telematics (via dealer Fleet Information Technology) installed a heat‑tolerant, low‑GPS derivative of its FM Communicator to meet those requirements.

MiX Telematics delivered second‑by‑second data capture, driver‑violation alerts, detailed trip information and a monthly driver performance evaluation programme, supported by a results‑based rewards and penalties system. Within three months PepsiCo reported fewer average violations per driver, more drivers with good performance and fewer poor performers, and after a year the solution was expected to deliver less risk, reduced operational expenses and increased vehicle utilisation.
