OOCEP (Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC) operates a 72-vehicle fleet moving oil and equipment across Oman and faced a high rate of near-miss incidents driven by overspeeding, harsh braking and unauthorised trips. To address this safety crisis the company partnered with MiX Telematics (via local channel partner FMSi) in January 2013 to deploy a driver behaviour monitoring programme across its fleet.

MiX Telematics implemented the MiX SafeDrive solution — an IVMS with a web-based fleet management platform plus MiX Vision in-cab video and geo-fencing — together with driver education and coaching. The results were dramatic: potential accident rates fell from 70% to 0% within a year, speeding incidents dropped from 700 to zero, major violations fell from over 3,000 to 137 by end-2015, and 90–100% of drivers were rated “green band” (safe) and maintained that level for three years, while managers gained better coaching and fleet-control capabilities.
