Mozzie Cabs, a Durban-based metered taxi operator with a 43-vehicle fleet, needed to improve passenger safety, monitor vehicle locations and driver behaviour, capture court-admissible tachograph data, and cut accidents, insurance, fuel and maintenance costs while detecting private use and increasing driver security. To address these challenges the company selected MiX Telematics and its MiX Fleet Manager solution.

MiX Telematics (via its Compass FM division) installed MiX Fleet Manager with FM Communicator units and rolled out the Compass FM King of the Road driver-coaching programme, custom alerts (passenger door events, high‑risk zones, long stops, speeding) and automated reporting plus training and support. The solution drove measurable improvements — from August 2013 to August 2014 the proportion of drivers earning performance incentives rose by 4% — and delivered reduced in‑town speeding and over‑revving, lower maintenance and fuel costs, fewer road incidents, better route planning and improved customer satisfaction.
