Case Study: Allied Transport achieves fuel savings and safer driving with MiX Telematics

A MiX Telematics Case Study

Preview of the Allied Transport Case Study

MiX Telematics and Compass FM help Allied take transport to higher levels

Allied Transport, a Durban-based road freight carrier on the Durban–Johannesburg route, was facing rising operating costs from fuel consumption and over-speeding, plus customer demand for real‑time visibility and driver monitoring. They worked with Compass FM (a MiX Telematics channel partner) and chose MiX Telematics’ MiX Fleet Manager Premium subscription with the Track and React service to address these challenges.

MiX Telematics, with Compass FM, installed on-board computers and deployed MiX Fleet Manager Premium and Track and React to monitor vehicles and proactively manage events like over‑speeding, harsh braking and idling. In a four‑month trial (Nov 2015–Feb 2016) Allied cut fuel consumption by 2 litres/100 km, reduced over‑speeding by 10.41 hours, saved R2,002 per month in fuel (≈R24,024/year) and about R500 per vehicle after four months, improving safety and lowering operating costs.
