Total Marketing and Services, Total’s downstream marketing arm operating across Africa & the Middle East with roughly 4,500 heavy tankers, faced unsafe driving conditions, driver fatigue and the need to protect high‑value cargo across multiple countries. To standardise safety and tracking, they engaged MiX Telematics in 2014 and deployed MiX Fleet Manager Premium together with MiX Hours of Service and MiX Vision.
MiX Telematics delivered on‑board hardware, a global SaaS platform and in‑cab video plus custom reporting to enable live tracking, event monitoring and fatigue management; once consistently rolled out, Total achieved a 17.54% reduction in harsh braking/acceleration, a 10% reduction in continuous driving events, an 88.89% reduction in over‑speeding events and a 7.44% reduction in kilometres driven, contributing to a strong decrease in tanker accidents.
