H&M Removals Takes Safety Seriously, With Mix Fleet Manager

H&M Removals, a South African removals and storage company with a 35‑truck fleet, needed to tighten safety and cut operating costs after identifying driver behaviour (speeding, excessive hours and fuel discrepancies) as their biggest risks. To address this, they selected MiX Telematics and its MiX Fleet Manager subscription (using FM Communicator on‑board units) to provide on‑board telematics, live tracking and driver performance monitoring.

MiX Telematics deployed a two‑phase rollout (via channel partner Tectra Telematics), training staff and fitting all 35 vehicles with MiX Fleet Manager hardware and portal access. The solution delivered measurable gains: driver ratings rose from 85% to 96% (up 11%), fuel efficiency improved from 2.4 km/l to 2.7 km/l (about a 12% reduction in fuel use), fewer speeding tickets, 100% compliant vehicle utilisation and reduced accident risk — plus ongoing savings and greater fleet control without extra personnel.
