Case Study: Nottingham City Transport achieves a safer, more efficient fleet with MiX Telematics

Established bus company discovers great potential in telematics-based coaching

Nottingham City Transport, the largest transport operator in Nottingham with a 304‑vehicle fleet, set out to improve passenger comfort, reduce wear and tear, cut accidents and lower insurance costs to pass savings on to customers. To achieve this they chose MiX Telematics, deploying MiX Fleet Manager with RIBAS, MyMiX and ticket‑machine integration across their depots.

MiX Telematics implemented engine‑connected telematics, RIBAS in‑cab real‑time feedback and the MyMiX driver app alongside a focused coaching programme; rollout and training were staged depot‑by‑depot. Within 12–18 months MiX Telematics’ solution delivered faster data collection, more effective driver coaching, increased driver engagement and improved fleet efficiency across all 304 connected vehicles, with reductions in risky behaviours (e.g., harsh braking and speeding) that relieve fuel and maintenance pressures.
