CEMEX Colombia - Customer Case Study

CEMEX Colombia, a major supplier of cement, concrete and aggregate operating a 350‑truck fleet, needed to improve road safety and maintenance efficiency by reducing harsh braking and acceleration, over‑speeding and hot engine shut‑offs. To address this, CEMEX selected MiX Telematics’ fleet solution — MiX Fleet Manager with QSR programme and the FM3507 on‑board computer — implemented in Colombia through channel partner LAP Technologies.

MiX Telematics installed FM3507 units and its fleet management platform to deliver real‑time GPS tracking, driver behaviour feeds and configurable alerts; after full rollout CEMEX cut excessive speeding from about 800 incidents/month to virtually zero, reduced overall fuel consumption by 4%, saw hot engine shut‑off fall by nearly 500% and improved maintenance scheduling and vehicle utilisation. MiX Telematics’ system also enabled a driver reward programme and preventative maintenance via early‑warning reports, boosting road safety and engine care.
